On Monday, the former charter school was demolished to make way for new apartments.
An entire work crew tore down the building.
But it took just one man to take down Heart of the Earth.
“A good school, a cultural institution and Joel Pourier killed it,” said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
On Monday, a Hennepin County judge sent Joel Pourier to prison for ten years. Pourier was once the school’s executive director. Last month, he pleaded guilty to stealing more than a million dollars from school coffers over five years, a crime that forced the school to shut down. In addition to prison time, Pourier was also ordered to pay a million dollars in restitution.
Prosecutors say as students waited for supplies, Pourier wrote checks to himself, spending the school’s money on cars, houses and strip clubs.

Minneapolis Strip Clubs: ‘True Blood’ Recap: Fresh Blood S3E11

Since Bill’s in no shape to save the Sookster, Eric’s Ukrainian dancer comes downstairs and Sookie’s like, “I thought you were on Team Eric.” Another Twilight joke?! What the hell? Anna Paquin turns in some of the worst acting I’ve seen on this show as my future stripper wife undoes the lock on her collar. Sookie grabs some silver chains and heads upstairs to find Bill going fisticuffs with Pam. He punches her into the bar only to have her turn around and mace him in the face AGAIN. Homeboy does NOT learn. Sookie rescues him by choking Pam with her silver chains. Bill’s blinded for the time being so Sookie questions Pam. Pam says that Sookie was supposed to be a gift for King Russell, but now that she’s escaped they’ll all die. Sookie leaves Pam with the Ukrainian and leads Bill out the door.

Minneapolis Strip Clubs: "Fresh Blood"

All this, as usual, is forgotten by the time you get to the last five minutes and the legitimately edge-of-your-seat cliffhanger that was Eric silver-handcuffing himself to Russell so they can both burn to death in the sun together. In this case, Nancy Oliver did well to conceal his big plan from us, because it was all the more tense as we realized that it involved him sacrificing himself for the greater good. The reveal, first conveyed through Pam’s tears as she watched her maker on the closed-circuit TVs, was a darn good one. And while I’m sure this won’t be the end of Eric, I have to applaud True Blood’s unfailing success record with its cliffhangers.
Stray observations:
Among the dead memorialized in the montage? “Vikings.” Poor guys!
The Estonian stripper, derided by Pam as an “idiot immigrant,” gets a nice moment as she chains her to a pole. “In Tallinn, I am cardiologist!”

Investigators seized much of that July 23 from the basement in Eagan where Graham has been living, but found no platinum coins. According to Tschida, Greco was caught on video that afternoon putting the duffel bag into the Mall of America locker.
He said Greco told federal authorities that the contents of the bag were his. He claimed to have earned $30,000 during his deployment to Iraq, and said he spent $20,000 buying up currencies. He claimed that most of the coins were given to him when he was 10 by an uncle who has since died. But the date stamps on about half of the coins show they were minted after his uncle’s death, Tschida said.
‘Wild stories’
An unidentified dancer at Sheik’s strip club in Minneapolis told Tschida that she’s known Greco for about 10 years. Tschida said she told him that Greco wasn’t a big spender until recently.

Former White Bear Lake coach nabbed in prostitution sting pleads guilty
Man busted after agreeing to pay undercover officer
Updated: 08/26/2010 11:16:21 PM CDT
A former assistant hockey coach for White Bear Lake Area High School pleaded guilty this week to engaging in prostitution, a misdemeanor.
Bradley Sperling, 46, of White Bear Lake was sentenced immediately after his guilty plea Wednesday. Ramsey County District Judge Rosanne Nathanson ordered him to pay a prostitution fine of $250 and attend a “john school,” an educational program for male clients of prostitutes.
If Sperling follows all terms of probation, including having no similar incidents, his conviction will be dismissed after a one-year probation.
Both Sperling and his attorney declined to comment Thursday.
Marisa Vette of the White Bear Lake school district said Sperling was terminated Jan. 19, a week after his arrest.
