In the gospel lesson in Mark 6 and 7, Pharisees asks Jesus, Why do your disciples eat with unclean hands? That is, hands not ceremonially washed before eating. The issue here was not dirt on the hands after weeding the garden or working in the shop; the issue was a ceremonial cleaning that denoted the person was then pure. Jesus does not rise to the bait. He quoted the prophet Isaiah who wrote about people honoring me with their lips but their hearts were far from me, (Isaiah 29:13). To Jesus, the old ideas about ritual purity were not helpful when the issue was helping people understand the grace of God. Grace is unmerited favor. Jesus life, ministry, death and resurrection was all about the unmerited favor of God called grace. Washing ones hands or not washing did not have anything to do with Gods grace.
Translating that to the present, the Scripture speaks against homosexual rape and prostitution, but has no knowledge of homosexuals in committed relationships. Jesus is not recorded as saying anything about gays. Pauls condemnation (Romans 1:25-27) was arguably against idolatry and temple prostitution, not gays in a committed relationship.
