The Korean-American Grocer’s Association of Los Angeles submitted a letter in support of the store.
But numerous residents who live near Super Liquor showed up to ask the council to deny the appeal and uphold the new rules.
“We’ve had lots of distress from this liquor store…I was robbed in my driveway,” said Gretchen Bailey.”It seems ridiculous that they are appealing this.”
Pasadena Police Department Lt. Tom Pederson of the Special Enforcement Unit estimated there have been about 150 arrests related to Super Liquor over the years.
In 2007, a shooting in the store’s parking lot left a 19-year-old man paralyzed, touching off a bloody weekend of retribution that left two other people dead.
Other residents in the past have accused the store of being a magnet for drug dealing, prostitution and other crime.
