Maurice Level Ward Sr. was charged in Anoka County this month with two counts of prostitution after an investigation that began in January. Ward is scheduled to appear in court next week.
According to the criminal complaint, the mother of one of the girls, both 16 years old, came to police after becoming suspicious. She told police that since the fall of 2009, her daughter would leave for “work” and be gone for three days at a time. The mother also suspected a second underage girl may have been involved.

Ward told the girls about his prostitution business, “Geishas NI,” which he conducted from his Blaine home in the 2200 block of 119th Lane Northeast. Ward took photos of the girls in undergarments and posted the images on a Web site advertising the prostitution business, according to the complaint.

Police conducted an undercover prostitution sting March 4 and arrested Ward. Upon a search of the home, police also found 25 marijuana plants.
