Donnie Boyce says he did not like what he saw on the streets when he first moved to the neighborhood.
“[There were] a lot of drugs and prostitution,” he commented. “I mean they would stand out here and deal drugs.”
Before long, he and his wife helped to set up a community watch group to try and bring positive change to the neighborhood.
“Things aren’t done overnight,” he said. “You have to understand you have to go through a process to get done what you need to get done.”
Marvin Nance, who has lived his whole life in the neighborhood, says the community watch group has brought a welcomed change.
“We used to have an awful lot of street walkers and questionable people,” Nance said. “They’ve helped cut down on that and it’s made me feel safer.”
