Homicide victim was an East Lake St. fixture, friends say
The man gunned down near a busy south Minneapolis intersection Wednesday night had his demons but wasn’t violent, friends said.
A man gunned down near a busy Minneapolis intersection Wednesday night was a well-known “old school” veteran of East Lake Street who was just five days out of rehab for crack-cocaine and alcohol addiction, friends said.
The man, known on the streets to everyone as “Vino,” was in his 40s and known for his sometimes-flashy clothing and long finger-wave hair. His real name has not yet been released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Those who knew him on the stretch of Lake Street often known for prostitution and drug problems said he was a good man who, despite some personal demons, never caused trouble.
