Charges Filed in MN ‘Nice Guys’ Prostitution Case
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A former assistant Hennepin County attorney is accused of running an alleged prostitution ring that set up “nice guy” customers for prostitutes at Minneapolis hotels.
66-year-old John Paul St. Marie of Minneapolis faces six felony counts of promoting prostitution. The complaint alleges St. Marie set up appointments for prostitutes with men he claimed were safe and could pay well.
Police began investigating two years ago after getting a tip from an informant.
St. Marie’s attorney, James Dahlquist, tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that St. Marie has been recognized for his contributions to society and the legal profession – and the charges are “much in contrast” with that.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s office is prosecuting the case to avoid a conflict of interest.
